The well-known Kunratický forest (also called Michelský or Krčský) is one of the biggest green areas inside the city and it can boast with valued natural and architectonic localities. Maintained paths, summerhouses and benches make relaxing in the shadow of trees more pleasant. There is a playground nearby the log cabin Gizela for adults so that one can fully enjoy exercising. With a bit of luck one can come across a squirrel, doe or a herd of moufflons.
Nature reserve the Valley of the Kunratický brook is a significant part of the forest. In the southwest area, on the steep spur above the bend of the brook there is the ruin of the gothic New castle with free admission. Its construction was ordered in 1411by king Wenceslas IV. who used to spend his time there often and in August 1419 died there. The northeast end of the forest is interlaced with the A22 bike path, connecting the South City and Braník. The bike path starting at the metro station Roztyly links to it.
Kunratický forest is in short a perfect place for mental encouragement and energy draw up.
